Silver and Nickel Red Tips

Got these two as part of an ebay lot. One is silver plated with a rose gold tip, while the other is all original. Neither tips look perfect, so I'm considering repainting them. The silver and nickel plate both look great. Thoughts? Tips on repainting?

The red tip has become my favorite razor for now, too. Better than my fat boy, slim, super, tech or EJ.

I have a birth year Red Tip that gives me great shaves. It's an excellent razor.

Don't repaint the tip, it give character to these Ret Tip + you'll re-chip it anyway ^^

Your "stock" Red Tip is in amazingly good shape with a few flecks of red gone, IMOHO repaint should be considered if the paint is 70-80% gone.
With that said and you are intent on repainting I have two Red Tips (a 56 and a 57) one was like yours and one was nearly red free.
I found that Krylon burgundy is a spot on match to the point that I can set my stock 56 next to my restored 57 and save for the chips on one and slightly "too new" looking gloss on the other you'd be hard pressed to say which one is Krylon and which one is factory original Gillette.

I love the look of silver... Just casts such a nice white glow! But the rose gold tip... eh I like rose gold but the silver/rose combo doesn't do it for me. If it wasn't so darn expensive, I would suggest having a look at Duracoat firearm finish paint (their color "stock red" or "cavarms red" look close). It's some tough stuff, I just don't think the cost would be worthwhile for such a small part.

I too like the silver. Wish it were more durable. Unless a razor were originally silver plated, I think I would go with rhodium for a replate. This one came to me already replated in silver with rose gold.

I think I would like the rose gold tip on the silver one if it were in perfect shape, but it does not look good in it's current condition. Maybe I will paint the tip on the silver one and leave the other one alone.
