Signature scent?

What is your scent philosophy?

  • Signature Scent - my one and only

  • Signature Scent/Day scent, plus special scent for occasions and/or evenings

  • Wear scents seasonally (possibly with special for occassions)

  • Mix it up all the time / random / whatever I feel like

  • Other???

Just curious what everyones scent-philosophy is...do you seek (or have) a signature scent that you wear ALL the time, have a go-to day scent with some special scents for occasions, wear scents seasonally, mix it up all the time, or what?

voted for mixing it up as of for now. I received the penhaligons sample set so I'm trying to find which I like best. So far...EF, Racquets, and Elixir.

I have a scent for every season. Some scents are better depending when you wear them. This is my line up. Summer: Nautica voyage; Fall: Acqua di Gio; Winter: Kenneth Cole Reaction; Spring: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue.

I do a little of everything...I have a signature scent (Acqua di Parma Colonia) that I pretty much wear all the time. But I also like to wear other seasonal scents, just depends on what I'm in the mood for that morning when I wakeup.

I like to wear Acqua di Parma Colonia EdT when I use their shave cream and I do not need to wear a suit to the office.

I like to wear Pen's Blenheim Bouquet EdT when I use their soap and I'm wearing a suit to the office.

Great poll! I chose 'Other' because I'm still very new to cologne-wearing, and am gradually finding my way. Some hits, lots of misses, but greatly enjoying the journey!

Great answers so far! For those of us responding to the question who are relatively new to cologne-wearing, I guess I would like to extend the question to not just what are you doing now (which may include lots of testing/sampling), but what are you aiming for - what is the end goal once you find those scents you want to wear?

For me, I am thinking that I will either try for a signature scent or perhaps seasonal rotation, depending on what it is I find I like. But I think I would also like a "special occassions" scent for formal events, evening wear, etc.

Right now, the only scents I have sampled that I would wear are Terre d'Hermes (which I have purchased a bottle of) and Czech & Speake Citrus Paradisi, but I find them somewhat similar so I am not sure I can choose both.

I want to find a good green scent (Green Irish Tweed, perhaps?) and am curious to try some patchouli scents, the latter perhaps for evening wear??? I don't have a good handle on how I would rotate scents seasonally/occassionally at this point...

Signature yes, but mixing it up. If you never mix it up you start to take the signature for granted.

Then the signature starts talking to other scents, and then one day you get a card from Reno and you're left standing there, alone, thinking I'm too old to go back to sampler sets. That's how it happens.

.

what I'm aiming for is a scent that will draw my wife away from that I live coolwater so much on you (really I can't stand it)

my goal- to have a unique scent I know no one around my way is wearing that I know and if they ask my reply will be "if I told you...(you know the rest)."

I am all over the place in what I wear choosing from a now embarassingly large slection of scents, expensive, cheap, and inbetween, mostly from what I can tell at whim, although I do pay some attention to season, time of day, formality of dress, occasion, and company.

My wife, who is a clinical psychologist, used to follow the concept that one should have a signature scent, based on the idea that folks recognize one by a Gesalt of all sorts of things and scent might as well be a consistent item. (It did make for a cute story about one of my children.)

I have not talked to her about it lately, and I do not think she does that anymore, but I would be a very unhappy, bored camper if I had to wear just once scent day after day, season after season, event after event. For one thing, some days I am dark and somedays I am light, especially on the days I am feelilng light I do not want to smell "dark." Although, over time I think I am going less and less on the amount of scent applied, so maybe no one would notice but me, which is fine by me!

My go to is some sort of Bay Rum variation (regular, with citrus, etc. etc) but I like to mix it up occasionally with something else such as a vetiver. But ahve to amdit I've been wandering through some samples packs (C&S, Trumpers) and find myself broadening my horizons. So in the future, this may change. =)

Depends on what I feel like wearing. Altho if I had to pick a signature scent, it would be something w/sandalwood.

I have quite a few a/s and even though i dont need anymore bought 2 the other day:w00t:i just go with what i fancy on any given day.
