Well, Gents, I'm about to start a new job in Shreveport, La., and looking for some information. I'm not sure where I'm going to move, but I'm thinking of the Haughton, Benton, South Bossier areas (maybe even Stockwell area).

Any guys live there or know much about the area? Additionally, any good shaving gear nearby

Paul,

My family lives there. You'll have to decide what you want out of a home place. Shreveport has it all - from city fancy, to a nice spread with acreage North and West of town. If you have kids picking a school district will be the most important as education quality varies wildly.

I sure like the houses around the lake North of town.

Shave gear wise you have hit mail order city. Nothing that I am aware of - next stop Dallas.

That's what I've been hearing about the schools. In fact, my wife has been doing a lot of research as of late about that. There is a Chemistry position open at Benton (which is her subject), and that might be a place that I should look. The Magnet schools in Shreveport look pretty nice, but I'm not too keen on the idea of having to test in every year. The problem is that I like older houses with mature landscaping (typically bigger yards) which seem to be mostly found in Shreveport.

I'm used to visiting Mail Order City for shave gear...

I have recently moved out of Shreveport after having there for 4 years while my wife was in medical school. I can't say much about school systems as we have no kids, but I can tell you where to get a hot lather shave. Mr. Gwen (i forget his last name) at Uptown Barber Shop on Line ave. It may be the best 12 bucks you spend. He uses a shavette, hot towel, hot lather, the whole works...and he has be doing it for quite some time.

Also, the best hamburger can be found at Fatboy's
