Shower Shaving Process

I am a shower shaver, and new to DE wet shaving, and am looking for ways to improve my comfort while still shaving in the shower. I love the efficiency and cleanup. Since I have my own well, and it is form eh second largest aquifer in the state, and the grey water jut soaks back through the ground to be filtered and returned to the ground water some day, I don't have conservation issues.

My current routine (I am in week 2 of my wet shaving adventure):
1. soak brush while starting my morning routine
2. put some cream in the bowl
3. put the bowl and brush in soaking cup in the shower on a shelf away from the shower spray.
4. get in shower
5. Wash hair and face with shea butter black soap from Dr. Woods
6. wash beard area with MR GLO and massage the beard for a couple minutes
7. whip up some lather in the bowl
8. shave
9. finish washing body
10. apply QCS after shave balm to wet face with wet hands.

Any thoughts on improving this routine for greater comfort while preserving shower shaving? I have a glass no fog mirror from sharper image that runs hot water through it while you shower to prevent condensation, and really like it. I have had it for 8 years, and is still working great.

No cleanup when shower shaving.

Areas of specific interest:
more pre-shave and post shave recommendations to improve comfort.

Have been a shower shaver most of my shaving years (around 30) I've found that soap sticks are a lot better for the shower. Face latehring helps too. As for me all I use is,

69 super adjustable, short handle
soap stick
FS finest 26mm chubby.

We should start a "Shower Shavers Club"......Shower Shavers Unite!!

I've also been a shower shaver for 12 years or so and have a simular set up and follow your same steps.

I'd keep doing what your doing but wait until you are ready to shave to put the cream in your bowl so as to keep it 'fresh.' Myself I use a plastic "salsa" bowl that I purchased at HEB grocery for $1. It has a nice smooth surface and lots of room to mix a creamy lather! The fact that it's made of a hard plastic keeps me from worrying about dropping it.

Havn't tried any specific pre-shave oils or anything....never had an issue in this area. I find the steam from the shower area keeps me pretty slick and hydrated.

Im a shower shaver and have a similar process, however I face lathe. I regularly can do one pass BBS (although I will alwys stretch the shave out to use all my lather)

Me personally as a long time shower shaver, if you are one of those people that need a bowel and all that prep work, then you are wasting a lot of water and IMHO shower shaving isn't for you.

For me I can shower shave anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes using a DE.

It's quite simple:
1. Do other stuff while you are in there: hair, soap up your body, whatever. The key is getting the face wet and warm and that can happen while you are doing other things.
2. Take a bar of soap and wax your mirror and then quickly rinse it off; works as a lather and helps keep the mirror from fogging.
3. Grab the bottle of Kiss My Face shaving lather and apply it to face.
4. Grab razor and shave.

Recently I gotten myself a Goate Saver so to evenly trim/style my goatee and hasn't really add more than seconds to my shaving time. With going against the grain and if I really want a close shave I lather twice. One time with the grain then re-lather and against the grain. Either way 5 to 10 minutes tops! Also the amount of time I spend shaving pretty much matches the time I spent shaving when I didn't have any facial hair.

Also I buzz my head and that is quick too. The only thing I would really like is an Oster Classic 76 with a few clippers.

I'm not worried about wasting water. I have a private well tapped into the second largest aquifer in the state, and the gray water goes back into the ground, filters through the earth, and back into the aquifer. My house is geothermal hvac and geothermal hot water. I can afford to let the water run a little.

Really just looking for other tips regarding improving my pre and post shave treatments to keep my skin feeling better.

I use a cheap hair conditioner on my whiskers...right now it is White Rain...after I wash by face with bath soap. I leave the conditioner on while I brush my teeth, and then load my shave brush. I rinse the conditioner off and face lather. I get an effortless shave.

Same process here. Usually a two-pass with a variety of creams & razors. I did just order a synthetic brush to give it a try.

Cheap conditioner is probably out for me. I am trying to use products that are as natural as possible. Mikes, QCS, etc.

Face lathering might be something to consider though, as it might hydrate the beard a little better due to the extended massaging of the face with the brush.

This is pretty much exactly what I do, except I used car wax on my mirror, works ok, might try the sop idea.
i also just go ahead and turn the water off right before I lather up, so as not completely waste water.
