Should I buy a matching head for my Ikon Bulldog Handle?

I bought the handle for my EJ89 and I've been loving the shave. I have, however, been wondering what I'm missing from a full Ikon razor experience. I know I can get a full Open Comb or OSS head from their site to match it, but without experience and on a budget I'm not sure how great the difference would be anyway. Also, should I take the plunge, I'm not sure whether I'd want the OC on both ends or the OSS head. Is the OSS mostly a gimmick?

Thoughts/Opinions? What would you do on a budget? (Saving for tuition next semester so I can avoid touching my credit any more).

Well if you're on a budget, and your current gear works. No! Leave it until your budget increases.

For me, the OSS plate and the SB plate are too aggressive. The OC is perfect. You might have to wait a while for the top cap. This may be changing. The site used to say "out of stock." Now it says ""contact us." If you can't wait, the Gillette New top cap will work.

I got the Ikon OC first earlier this year, and just recently picked up the solid bar baseplate. The OC head is similar in terms of agressiveness to the Weber or Merkur 34c IMO. Maybe just a little more aggressive than the EJ that you are using. The Ikon solid bar head is much more aggressive..... although I've only used it for a couple shaves.

I think that if you enjoy the EJ head, then you would probably like the Ikon OC head. I've never tried the OSS head because I don't care for the concept of it.... so I can't really comment on that one.

OSS head is not aggressive at all, IMO. Actually it's very mild.
