Short handle!

I just got into DE/wetshaving last week and am now interested in vintage razors. I found my wife's grandmothers razor earlier, which is a blue lady's Gillette twist to open, but just now I found her grandfather's, which is also a Gillette but is very short. Seems like it would be hard to use. I am in the process of cleaning it up.

Very nice! I didn't realize that Gillette made travel models that early in their history.

I imagine that many folks starting out think that longer handles would be easier to handle, I know that I did.

What I found was that the standards three inch handle such as that found on vintage Gillette razors or on the Merkur HD worked perfectly fine for me. Now I tend to find the longer handle razors to be awkward.

I suspect that whatever we are used to becomes the norm. In today's world where many of us our coming from carts, the longer razor is our frame of reference.
