Sheffield Platinum Super Stainless blades

I just won these on ebay:

Has anybody tried these blades. I've heard that nos blades are usually very good so I'm assuming these are at least decent.

Never heard of them before. The fact they're made in Sheffield, England makes them interesting. Let us know when you get them and how they shave.

There's an ebay seller that keeps listing lots of 120 of them. I purchased 240 of these blades (quite inexpensively though) so I do hope they shave well.

If not, I'm sure you could piece them out pack by pack. They'd probably go quickly on the B/S/T, or PIFd for people who haven't tried them yet. Hopefully you'll luck out on this shot in the dark, especially if you got a killer price on them.:001_smile

The manufacturer Jewel used to make nice DE blades years ago so I think these could be fairly good. They have since stopped making any blades for shaving concentrating instead on industrial blades.

I actually bought another 2 boxes (240 blades) from the seller. I've had a few shaves with them and they were not rough at all. They didn't seem as sharp as some other blades I've tried but they do their job. You can't beat the price these have been going for, especially for nos blades.

I bought some of these blades about two years ago. They are usable, but for me they do not measure up to the blades that Gillette, Schick, and Wilkinson were putting out back then.

I just pulled the ol' trigger on two boxes of these. The worst possible thing is that I would have to give them away...

Be seeing you.

Is there a manafucture on the blades i picked up 500 jewel stainless a couple of months ago and they were quite good and also made in sheffield.

This is absolutely correct, I would add that although their performance doesn't match the big 3 of the period, they are priced modestly compared to the price the others command nowadays, They did have some initial roughness for me but as stated they are usable. :thumbup1:

In a blinding fit of BAD, I bid on and won 360 of these blades. Havent received them yet.
Looking forward to trying them.

Where exactly do you find them, have been searching but to no avail.

Agreed. I'm not having any luck, either. Can someone post a link to a source for Wil and I (and others)?

Likewise, if anyone who's already got them is able to part with 10 of these, PM me.

Thanks,

Hi everyone,

I've been using these blades fairly regularly, after having bought a whack of them from one of you. It's become my favourite blade. The Sheffield steel is very effective for me -- very forgiving, and very long lasting. Three thumbs up! :thumbup1:

And so...are there any of you in this thread who had purchased these blades from the eBay seller, and who are feeling buyer's remorse, and who might want to quickly liquidate their lot of these? I'd be willing to take them off your hands and facilitate your recovery of costs...

PM me, if so!

Cheers,
Jimmy.
