Shaving oil on brush?

I have several bottles of KOS shaving oil and I've used it many times in the past when I used canned foam and carts. My question is if it's OK to use shaving oil with soap/cream and a badger brush? Is it usually easy to rinse from the brush when finished? And does it improve or detract from, let's say, Proraso in the bowl or Musgo in the tube (I have both). Any advice is appreciated.

It's fine. Just make sure to wash your brush after shaving. Also, you may want to shampoo your brush and soak it in vinegar once a month.

I tried shaving oil about a year ago. I didn't see anything that was worth the time and the mess of using the oil. I think with the quality soaps and creams available today that shaving oils are not necessary. Thats from my own point of view however, I didn't find any added benefit to my using them. If it works for you then by all means continue. I'll agree with the mention of being sure you clean your brush well after using the oil. :001_rolle

I've tried KOS oil and found, at least in my case, that a good lather from either shave soap or cream is much slicker than the film provided by KOS. Also, lathering over KOS didn't work well. You know, oil and water don't mix. Oil was left in my brush, but it did shampoo out. IMHO, a slick lather and a light touch with your razor make shaving oil unnecessary.

Thanks for the tips, guys; I'll just keep the oil as an option. A couple of years ago I bought five bottles of the stuff for a quarter each at a thrift store, believe it or not, and I was just wondering if it would still be useful.

I use T&H pre-shave oil and have not noticed much difference with the shave itself. However, I have noticed how baby butt smooth my face is afterward.
