You should still give it a shot if you are interested. I'm sure you'll end up really enjoying it. And the pool of blood thing only happens once or twice. It's sort of a rite of passage really.

And, a word of advice.
When the razor slips out of your blood soaked hand, DON'T grab it while it's falling. You wouldn't want to lose a finger.
