Shaving Creams

I'm looking for quality shaving creams/soaps that aren't quite as pricey as the top names. What should I look for in a shaving cream to get a great shave and also have a great smell?

Head on down to your local Bath and Body Works. They are offering a 2 for 1 special on their C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream. It's in a green tube, for $5.00 each. It's made by Proraso of Italy, and is highly regarded on these boards.

I tried it out for the first time this morning, and found it to be simply amazing!!

c.o. bigelow is pretty good

if youre looking for value, rather than just super cheap, taylors of old bond st are fantastic.

+1. For fourteen dollars for an unbelievably awesome tub that will last months, TOBS Avocado may just be the best SC deal there is.

If you want to save money and still get a great shave, forget creams and pick up a puck of VDH deluxe at WalMart. Less than 2 bucks and shaves great.

Cream-wise, it's pretty hard to beat C.O. Bigelow, especially if they have a two-for-one deal going on.

Thanks for all the help I think I'll try TOBS or the Bigelow, where would be the best place to find TOBS for a good price?

The Palmolive (£1.50)we get here in the UK is great and cheap, also I find the Boots cool cologne (74p!) gives a good shave.

I totally agree about there being no need to splash out on expensive branded creams that are if being completely honest are not all that much better.

Well, they don't have Taylor's right now, but a great place to shop is

www.rasagepoulin.com He has an excellent selection and quality business (and he's simply a great guy running the place).

For Taylor's specifically, you might look to http://westcoastshaving.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=19&sort=20a&page=3

Hope that helps,

Body Shop is good. Also widely available in brick and mortar stores so there is no postage/packing to pay.

+ 1 on Body Shop SC. Picked some of this up @ Lenox Mall in Atlanta and it was pretty amazing. Good thing I never experienced the old forumlation because I had no expectations and really enjoyed this.
