Shaving Cream Confessional

Guys,

I use soaps a bit more than creams but since coming aboard as this forum's Steward, it made me think about my creams experience.

I regularly use a variety of fine products - some high end, others mainstream (Castle Forbes, Acqua di Parma, Pen's Blenheim Bouquet, Truefitt & Hill, JM Fraser) - but I must confess, I've yet to try many creams that are staples for many of you, including this partial list:

Kiss My Face
Palmolive
Nancy Boy
Speick
Acca Kappa
Erasmic
Tabac
Musgo Real
The Bomb
Santa Maria Novella.

What is my penance? And what must some of you confess? :tongue_sm

No penance, Bill! I'm essentially a soap user as you are! But in the list you just posted I wholeheartedly recommend giving a try at:

Acca Kappa 1869
Santa Maria Novella
Musgo Real
Speick

I have yet to try a few of those you listed as well.

My confession though is that I won't try Nancy Boy because of the name :tongue_sm

I feel pretty confident and secure in my manhood but I just can't imagine leaving this product out on the sink. It would probably look great next to my bottle of A&F Woods with the ripped abs model on it though.

A few months ago, I had something like seventeen soaps and one cream.

That cream was Speick, and no matter how much I liked soaps better than creams, there was no way I would ever get rid of it.

I've branched out a bit (I added Trafalgar and have been looking for a good almond cream), but Speick is one of the few products I can say with certainty that I will ALWAYS keep around!

AMEN. If they only made mouthwash!

9 times out of 10 its soaps. For all else there is AOS Lavender and Musgo Real which I can't imagine being without.

I, on the other hand, almost always use creams and I haven't tried any on that list either. Even without those I still have enough creams to last me 5 years. I also haven't tried AOS or Dr Harris, but hope to remedy that soon.

Creams can be so outrageously good...

  • Musgo
  • Speick (which i think performs better than the soap)
  • Santa Maria Novella
  • La Toja
each are top tier.

Marco, a fine list indeed! However, I still feel ashamed as a grizzled wet shaver. I must go forward with a self-assigned penance (see below). :bored:

I'm afraid the same thought has crossed my mind. :blushing: But who can ignore the glowing reviews!

Speick shave soap is one of my all-time favorites and practically lathers itself! All the more reason for my shame. The cream, Bill. The cream!

Looks like your penance is an order to West Coast shaving :p

I say pick two at random http://www.random.org

This, in a nutshell, is what I fear. And what I deserve. :tongue_sm

And one more thing. Musgo Real AS is in my top 2-3 and I could never be without it. So why have I never used their cream?

Mods, please ban me now!

Texbilly...where have you been? Haven't a post by you in forever!

I began using soaps too but know alternate them very often...I use MWF, Musgo and Provence Sante during the fall/winter and Aqua Di Parma, SMN and Castle Forbes Lime during warmer months. And Irisch Moos and Valobra shave sticks when I travel.

I have several soaps and creams that are still in their packaging: Monsavon, C&S Oxford and Cambridge and La Toja.

Tell ya what Bill. Loan me that Red imp of yours and I will send you some of each except the AK which is the only one I don't have(yet)!! :tongue_sm

Good hearing from you, Mike. Although I've been diving back in the last few weeks, I took a break for several months to take care of the little things - like finding a new job!!! Happy to be back!

I think I'll go through some of the Russian creams for a while and learn the Russian alphabet before I come back to the other creams. It's going to be a lifelong project.

Consider it done....:mad3: wait a minute, (pages through the mod handbook...banning, banning...banning, ah here it is on page 686....hummmmmmmmm)I can't ban a Texican from Round Rock... No Yankee can.

Oh well carry on

If Nancy Boy has fixed their shipping options to where it doesn't cost 47 billion dollars to ship a tub of cream by Fed Ex, their stuff is really worth trying out. I'm no cream expert but theirs is one of the best I've tried.

My reprieve!!! Thanks, Governor Brian!
