Shavemac D01 and brush shape question

I already own a 177 shavemac brush (23 mm knot) and I am very happy with it.

Though, I have discovered shavemac has another grade of silvertip. How good is the D01 grade ? What kind of benefit does it give in comparison to the standart shavemac silvertip grade ? is it marginal or well worth it ?

Regarding the shape of the brush, what is difference betwenn a bulb shape and a fan shape ? is one better for cream/ soap ?

Knot Shape:

There is no difference in terms of soap or cream use. I have a Rooney 1/1 in Super with a fan shaped knot and a Simpsons Ehsan (Colonel X2L in 2 band super) with a bulb shaped knot.

I enjoy them both, but some people dislike the bulb because it encourages you to paint on lather where the fan encourages kind of swirling on your face if that makes sense. Personally I do both things with both brushes.

I have used both bulb and fan shaped brushes and find that they both work just fine. It really comes down to personal preference. I don't see a clear advantage or disadvantage to either.

Is D01 worth it? In my opinion, Yes!
Here's a little review someone wrote...
Shavemac Genuine Horn Dual Review: D01 & Silvertip

Remember if you're ordering a Shavemac to email Bernd and ask to customize it with a shortened loft! Really amps up the performance of those brushes, in my opinion.

Oh, right! I forgot you were asking about brush shape. I think the only real difference is how large the brush will bloom. If you're ordering a fan-shaped brush, remember to take the loft down a few millimeters so it doesn't bloom so large.

Thank you very much for the answer and insights.:thumbup1:

I won't forget to ask about reducing the loft.
