Shavemac D01 2-band hair users.Help.

I have a Shavemac D01 2-band, 24/48, that I bought by mistake - I thought I was buying the D01 3-band. However, it is such a beautiful brush I kept it. Also, being the exceedingly intelligent man I am, I thought all of the talk about how D01 2-band has overkill in the backbone department, was exaggerated. I have face lathered with it about six times and palm lathered >15, and it has lost a great deal of its scritch, which is good. The tips are reasonably soft and seem to have become somewhat hooked at the ends.

The problem seems to be that this brush is the most voracious lather hog I have ever used. I know that one remedy is to overload the brush, which helps. It just nags me that this thing has such poor flow-through.

The question is will flow-through improve or will a 24 mm knot in D01 2-band remain a lather hog for the rest of my days?

What say you?

I have two, an older 20mm, and a newer 24mm D01 two band. I purchased the older one used, it has been a great brush. The newer one had a bit a scritch, compared to the old one, but I never noticed it being a lather hog.

I have a 25/46 and it has a lot of backbone. The brush didn't have a lot of flow through. I bought it from a member in Turkey who didn't like the brush (not soft enough and to much backbone). The brush improved over several months and has become one of my favorites. however the combination of it being 2band and the short loft makes for a brush that's not for everyone. Currently I swirl about 10 seconds and have enough soap to do 3 passes (face lathering), the brush releases the lather fine IMO, just give it some time. Or look to trade with someone who has a 3 band and wants a 2 band. For me the 3 band is much to soft to my liking.

Is your brush in fan, bulb, or flat? I like a 1:2 ratio on the knot and loft but this is for my flat top and fan. No problems with flow through. No idea if the loft is too short for your bulb if it is a bulb. I could see it being a problem.

Thanks for the encouragement, I am hoping to get to the point where it will eventually flow better.

You read my mind. My D01 3-band just came yesterday. But I dont' want to give up on the 2-bander unless it is a lost cause. It seems I will nee to be patient.

It's a fan, thanks anyway.

mine is a fan also. Don't give up on the brush, you can always sell or trade it later. Like with many things preferences do change over time, what you don't like now might be something you adore later.

I have a 22/44 D-01 2-Band and love it. It has an almost unbelievable amount of backbone, but has good flow-through and is a wonderful brush. Don't give up on yours yet!
