Shavemac 173

I picked this brush up when my SBAD kicked in while waiting for the Chief to arrive. It was delivered here from Germany in less than a week. I was pretty impressed with that! Just wanted to know if anyone has this brush and what I should expect from a Shavemac. Defunking has commenced (although for a new brush I don't really detect a lot of funk) and I hope to use it tomorrow.





It is a 24mm knot and the loft is 54mm.

That's a beauty!! One thing I've noticed about most of the Shavemacs I've seen is the near perfectly shaped, uniform looking knot. Enjoy! I bet those tips are pretty darn soft.

Pretty impressive knot. Also, I have more confidence in a Shavemac actually having a hand-tied knot more than any other manufacturer. I know the top names in the business use hand-tied knots but sometimes you wonder. Not with Shavemac.

The size is right under the last pic I posted. I probably should have put it at the beginning of my post. It's a 24mm knot and the loft is 54 mm. I went with their finest silvertip hair. The tips are soft to the touch and while doing a test lather I noticed the brush seems to have decent backbone to it. I'll find out more when I'm able to shave with it tomorrow.

The tips will soften a lot after breaking in. It will need a breaking in for some 15 shaves but it is well worth waiting for.


Mine is 25/50 mm silvertip D01 in blue marble. Yours will be even softer than mine because of the bulb shape in yours. The backbone is significant!

The 173 and 167 are my two favorite Shavemac handles. Yours has a spectacular bulb knot.
