I've been DE shaving now for about 5 months and I've only missed maybe 4 days of shaving during this time, so I have a few shaves under my belt and I'd like to think that I've managed a good comfortable shave consistently now.
The only issue is around my chin area and just under my lower lip and mustache. It feels that no matter how much prep I do and how good of a lather I have, I still have to do plenty of blade buffing and XTG, ATG to get all visible whiskers out.
I'm (and have been) using a DE89 with Feathers (yellow). I love the DE89 head and I recently purchased a Muhle Stylo set that comes with an R89 which is the same head so I'd like to keep it and look at a different blade if possible.
However, I'm open to suggestions and trying to figure out if:
1) getting sharper blades would help; or
2) going with a slightly more open head (i.e. Merkur 34 or 38); or
3) changing my technique
would be the best way to go.
Thanks.
