Shark blades?

I have tried the sample pack, and have been getting great shaves with my tech and Fatboy and New, loaded with Sharks...I am thinking about getting 200 blades off the bay for $16.88 per hundred...

Is there a better blade I should look at? I have tried the 7 Oclock yellows, Astra, derby, personna...and others in the sampler...the Sharks worked best for me...am I missing one or two more that I should try before loading up?

Sharks are great! Among my favorite as well so far. I also like Blue Birds and Derby and Personna, with Blue Birds probably on top. If I were you, I'd hold off on ordering a bunch and try the rest in your sampler. It'll only take you a couple more weeks to do so probably and whats the hurry? The price wont change so yeah, thats my 2c.

I would give iridiums a try first. I like sharks too but find iridiums sharper and still just as smooth. Blue Birds are my favorites though and they're about the same price as sharks.

They're a good blade (and I did buy 100 from a member on this forum) but there are better blades in my opinion. You need to try all the blades in your sampler before you find a favourite.

That said Shark aren't bad and you could buy some and use them as your "reference blade".
ie Shave with a shark, then blade A, then shark, then blade B, then shark, then blade C......

I did that with Derby blades (after buying 100). The problem is I've found half a dozen blades I prefer to Derby...:cursing:

I use Sharks, and they are great...dont order 200 though! if you really like them get 50 or 100 and make sure to try something else...i like Sharks, but i ended up buying 100 of the Astra Superior Platinum...not sure if you tried the Platinum or the regular Astras....in my book, they are just a little bit better than sharks and i can get 3 shaves from them instead of only 2 with the sharks.

100 blades will last you a long time....definetly have to try feathers and i hear good things about the red israelis and the iridiums

also, dont spend $17 on 100 from ebay...the vendors here have them cheapers...just post on the WTB forum and they will PM you. I just got 100 Astra Platinums for $15, you should be able to get the Sharks for around $12 shipped.

I like Feathers best, maybe try those, but they're relatively expensive. Astras second best, but you've tried those, and preferred the Sharks. For me, Sharks were a close third to Feathers and Astras.

Iridiums are supposed to be good, maybe get a sample of those. I have a five pack, but haven't gotten to it yet.

I have been getting 5-6 shaves out of Shark Super Chromes. I like them.

The Super Chrome is their higher-end blade; they also have the more-common Super Stainless. You can tell the difference on the packaging (besides the name) - The Super Stainless' four dots are red, whereas the four dots on the Super Chrome are white.
I'm thinking the OP is referring to the Super Stainless Shark blades, because that's what you see for sale most commonly and that's too bad, because the cost difference between the two are minimal. YMMV and whatnot.

The performance difference between the chrome and stainless in minimal in my experience. The chromes may get the edge in smoothness.

I only had to try one Feather before I knew I had wasted money on other blades.

I recently ordered some BlueBirds based on a number of positive posts....another slight waste of money compared to Feathers.

I'm a ways through my first sample pack and found blue birds to my liking in both SS and fatboys - sharp but forgiving, even after 6 shaves. Gillette yellows and greens agree with my face in a vintage razor too.

I like Sharks more than Feathers and Bluebirds. Must be a fish vs. fowl thing.

As always, YMM and probably will V.
