What's new

Settled on Soaps

Ok I have been trying out many, many soaps and have decided to only use 4.

Tabac, IMO the best soap made, great easy lather, very good protection, slicker than snot and I love the scent

Mikes Coconut, love the scent, slick, lathers easy

MdC, I have the lavender scented one and its just OK, easy lather, nice protection

MWF, this is I am keeping because I like the scent, when the lather is good, it is very good or it could be bad.

The rest will no longer will be used for shaving and will use to soften the wiskers while in the shower.

I will get my variety from the after shave portion of the software.

That's a great list of soaps you're sticking with. I'm thinking of trimming as well (6-7 soaps), and I still need to try out a few more scents of Calani, and give Strop Shoppe a go.

One of my new years resolutions was to simplify things to a new level, which included a clean out of hobby stuff so now its pretty much MWF & Tabac for pucks with Arko and Palmolive for travel.

I forgot to mention-your list is stellar. I would put Mike's over Tabac but not by much. Though I find the scent of Tabac disagreeable, the performance never disappoints.

I have tried many creams and soaps and after a subpar shave always wished I used one of these. I use Tabac about 75% of the time.

I change my straights, brushes and AS so I have endless combinations.

I knocked mine down to two, if Mike's as an aggragate can be considered one soap. :001_tongu

And then I discovered Irisch Moos cream. So I decided to also try Tabac cream (Just arrived, my next shave). :001_tt2:

So I guess I am still two soaps, kind of, and not sure yet where my cream side-journey will take me.

Oh, forgot, I now keep a stick of Arko in my luggage but I haven't opened it yet(I am a constant traveller.)...now I've confused myself. What was the question? :001_unsur

My latest have been MWF, Mystic waters Marrakesh (sp), MdC, and Mikes

I have noticed my Mystic waters needing more loading then the past one (lily of the valley), but still slick

If I had to pick one, MdC

I will be trying this tabac out again soon, I tried it as a newer shaver and only a sample.

I wouldn't mind having a 4 soap & 1 cream rotation. I'm down to the 1 cream, but it's going to take several years to get my current soap inventory down to 4.

I have abandoned creams all together.

I've been at this less than a year, but after 45 days of Mike's I've decided that soaps are a better fit for me. I don't anticipate buying anymore creams than the few that I already have.

Hey, if you're going to settle on four soaps, those are the ones I would pick. Except for the Mike's Coconut (blech). Nothing against Mike's.... I just can't stand the scent of coconut. In the place of the Mike's coconut, I'd substitute in D.R. Harris Arlington, Cade, Calani, Dr. Dittmar, Haslinger Ewe's Milk, Panna Crema, Klar Seifen, Floris, and sticks of Speick and La Toja. (See what I did there? :wink2:).

Alfredo, that is certainly a nice selection of 4 great soaps. If I had to go with only 4 (and I absolutely don't want to :001_tongu) they would be:

Cella, Crema Sapone Extra Extra Purissima
Martin de Candre scented
La Toja stick
RazoRock King of the Castle Lavender

If I had to choose one, it would be Tabac. But I'm not sure I can pick the next three. Mikes and QCS would be on the list, but which ones despends. Nancy Boy? . . . .depends, etc.

I still have my sticks and travel with them.

Valobra
LaToja
Irish Moos
Speik

And a few others.
