What I’m about to suggest may seem counter intuitive but you could experiment with the Hard Arkansas stone. I wonder how it would behave for bevel setting…?

I've tried to set a bevel on my soft but I really don't have the patience with better stones at my disposal. Great stone for knives though. I have, however, had a decent shave off of an Ark progression post 1k bevel set. Very time consuming and it was all about surface prep. It was certainly a fun project and worth continuing to tinker imo.
