Semogue brush for bowl lathering soaps?

I have a Kingsley badger brush now that I've been using for bowl lathering with Headslick. I just picked up my first soap, VDH unscented Luxury, and tried it with the Kingsley but didn't get much lather. I'm wondering if a boar brush would be the ticket so I'm looking at Semogues. I'm interested in the 830, SOC, or 1305 but any other recommendations welcome. So what would you get for bowl lathering soaps? Thanks.

In all honesty I would face-lather with a Semogue, if you don't know if boars are you thing I would go with the 1305 as it is the cheapest. If you are flush with cash go out and get the SOC.

Well, I'm definitely not flush with cash here. I'm just trying to ascertain the better brush for bowl lathering soaps. I've read so much here and elsewhere on the Web my head's gonna pop. So I hoped my B&B brethren might help. Thanks.

I have the Semogue 1800 and it is my favorite bowl brush. It is amazing on soaps. It's well broken in, so it is soft on my face, but still has great backbone to tear through soaps. I just used it on some VDH unscented luxury this past week and had a pile of lather that I ended up washing down the drain because it made too much. It will do that if you aren't careful.

I have a 1520 on the way and can't wait to try that out.

Most responses you will get will tell you to face lather with a Semogue. I would honestly just go with the 1305 as it is the cheapest route into finding out if you like boar brushes or not. Or go with a cheap Omega which are also good. Good luck.

I only bowl lather, period, and I have the Semo 830 and the 620. Both will bowl lather pretty great, but I'd give the 620 a hair up since it is a bit smaller knot and doesn't feel like it wants as big of a bowl to lather in due to that.

I'd go with the SOC. It's my favourite Semogue and it's great for both bowl and face lathering.

If you want a very soft brush after it's broken in , go with the 1305 . If you like something a little bigger and more scrubby , go with the Omega 49 .

I have the 830 and bowl lather with it. It works well but I find the handle to be a bit short for bowl lathering. I'm finding out that a longer handle make it easier to hold while working the lather in the bowl.

I use the 1800, 830, and 620 for bowl lathering soaps and creams, the 610 primarily for creams.
Have heard many good things about the SOC. I have handled one and it feels great (larger handle than the 1800), but I have not actually used it.
That said, Omega 49 is probably the best cost/effective brush around for bowl lathering soaps, including hard ones.
What can I say, I love all of my brushes :)
