Seeking brush suggestions for long handles and smallish knots

Hi, one of the ladies here. I've been lurking around the forum on and off for several years and generally have found lots of great advice (not to mention friendly chatter - this has to be one of the friendliest places I've found in twenty years online) and haven't had much in the way of unanswered questions. However I'm finally getting fed up with my current eshave brush which has always shed much more than I'd like and am having a hard time sorting through all of the brush reviews so I'm hoping for some suggestions to point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a long handle, preferably with a flared base (it's easier for reaching one's ankles without dropping the brush). I use both soaps and creams, although soaps more frequently, so for the brush itself I suspect I'm looking for a best badger or one of the more recent synthetics (those sound really interesting, but I'm not seeing ones with what I'm craving in a handle) probably on the medium-small side for both knot and loft, although I'm open to other suggestions. A little scratchiness is nice, but not sandpaper and I want it stiff enough for soaps. Also I don't have tons of money to spend, so less expensive options are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Madame, my warmest welcome to B&B. What about a Simpson 55 or 56 in Best? Or, as a cheaper choice, a quality boar brush?

What about a barber style handled brush, I have made them as long as 5 inches?? This can be combined with any size of knot, from small (elegant for the ladies) to big for guys with a big beard.

Welcome! Great suggestions by Marco and Rudy. I suspect that a barber handle brush would suit your needs, and as Rudy mentioned, be elegant. Good luck in your quest!

* Rudy's suggestion on a barber style handle is a great one and you should really get one of the new Generation 4 synthetic fibres put into the brush as they are extremely soft and make incredible amounts of lather. The barber style brush handle is great for leg-shaving! :001_smile

Thank you! That gives me lots to think about (and maybe gifts to request). Do any of the folks who make custom brushes here on the forum (or elsewhere) use the synthetic fibers?

welcome to B&B

Barber's handle as recommended gets my vote for a long comfortable grip

Here is my barber's handle restored Rubberset 200-1 which is the smaller handle they made

If you are going custom handle, you can pretty much have any size/shape you want (BRW custom) :001_smile

I'll bet if you ask Rudy, he can get any kind of hair/fibers you want. He is very approachable and reasonably priced.
