What's new

Second go with the Tech.

Much better. I can honestly say as I type this right now my shave is as close as I get with my Futur no matter what setting I use. I've actually been dialing my Futur down to lower and lower settings lately noticing that I get the same close shave set at 1 as I do 2.5. I'm impressed with the Tech however. I definitely like it much more than any of the Super Speeds I've owned in the past. It's such a nimble little razor too. I can get to all those little turns, contours, and tight spots on my face much more easily than I can with my Futur. I still love my Futur though. The Tech is mild, but the Tech gets the job done.

Glad to hear you have started to master the Tech.

Once you get it down, the tech is a great razor.

I am with you on the Futur at the lowest setting. I find myself shaving at #1 most of the time with it.

Took my Futur and short handle slant on this trip with me and though I miss my other DE razors these two are ones that I would not mind being marooned with. Three weeks with the same two razors over and over again has not driven me batty (yet).

It's all I use as far as DE's go. I've tried them all...slant, adjustable, aggressive, OC...I kept coming back to the Tech when I got bad shave the day before - then the light bulb turned on and I realized that if I used the Tech every day, I wouldn't have bad shaves.

Occasionally I'll use an injector to mix it up, but otherwise everyday is Tech Tuesday for me.

I got moves like Jagger
I knew you would get there. It's a different angle than the Futur for sure, but provides a very nice shave. Plus you can buff away to your heart's content on those problem areas without worying about razor burn.

I have tried a number of Gillette razors as well as EJ razors. The Gillette Tech will always be in my rotation. I am not a big fan of the bulbous head of TTO razors. They shave fine but don't provide the agility of the Tech head.

Once you get the technique down with the Tech try adding a blade shim or two. By varying the blade exposure with a shim you get the versatility of an adjustable. Three shims will give you a pretty aggressive razor. Mild with no shim to borderline wild with three shims.

I must confess I tried the Tech a couple of times and think of selling it. I just can't get a close shave, and if I really try, I just end up scrubbing my face.

Techs are amazing little razors, I hate to love them. I feel like I'm neglecting my more sophisticated DE's by using the Techs but it's kind of like comfort food.
