Seattle's Best Tea

Disclaimer: I know practically nothing about tea.

Has anyone gone to Seattle's Best Tea?

Last week I was roaming Chinatown, err, the "International" District in Seattle and came upon Seattle's Best Tea shop.

It's a little tea shop that specializes in high elevation oolongs from Tawain. Tastings are free, my tea guide (Jeffery) was knowledgeable, the teas were amazing, and the company (a nice local who is apparently a fixture there) pleasant. Left there with a Dong Ding and some other tea I can't remember the name of as well as some tea paraphernalia.

What's better than Seattle's best tea?

Hobbes's worst tea.

If you're in Seattle then you might want to check out Floating Leaves Tea which is probably my favorite source for oolongs right now. The location and other such information can be found here.

Shiuwen who owns the shop is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

The last oolong you reviewed sounded like a winner.

Indeed it was! Definitely worth a couple ounces to at least try it out. It should be known also that lighter oolongs are not usually my cup of tea except for baozhongs. The baozhong farmer that sources Shiuwen a bit of her stuff produces consistently excellent results.

Will check out these places on Wednesday. Still havent made it to the international district or chinatown. Thats what I get for being an out-of-towner/slacker.

I was talking to an "International District" resident who was from Hong Kong but had lived in Seattle for over 20 years. I mistakenly called it "Chinatown" then said "International District" and he reassured me that "Chinatown" was the more correct of the two because of the lack of French, German, Mexican, and American restaurants there.
