Sea Foam- What Is It?

Good morning all!
Reading through the Mack barbers guide I see recipes for something called 'Sea Foam' After googling and searching here, all I can find is I believe that it is something for lubing chains and or chaingears :scared:

Could someone please explain to me what it is/ was used for in barbering terms?

It is an additive. Can go in diesel fuel or into gasoline. It is an injector cleaner/lubricant (among other things).

Henry Ford used Kerosene in his hair. Source.

It is a cleaner, not a lubricant. Very effective in cleaning a gas engine intake. Pull off one of the vacuum tubes close to the intake with the vehicle running and let the side that sucks sip half the can straight. You can shut it off during this and let it stay in there for a few minutes, then start her up and take it for a hard drive. You will produce a lot of white smoke from the exhaust while this burns off. Carbureted vehicles are easier, pour it slowly down the carb.

Ok- So theres something called sea foam that's for cars  but I'm meaning the stuff that is/ was used in mens hair.

I buy sea foam at R&S strauss, pep boys, parts authority, or other major retail chains of auto parts.
Its like acetone as has been said. I use it to clean throttle bodies and injectors on car engines and carburetors on ATV's and bikes.
also can be dropped into your engine while running to clean the firing chambers .

Seafoam works good on removing a sludged engine or after the winter for a varnished carb on most small engiines
