SE & Injector blades

I read somewhere in the threads (perhaps the injector blade thread) about a medical supply place having a good deal on injector blades.
Is this the place & is item #121-4 the correct one?
Also, they have DE as well as SE blades, but they all vary in description as far as coatings, etc. Are there DE/SE blades any better/cheaper than ones found elsewhere? Any particular DE/SE blades they have better than another they sell?
I guess I just don't understand the thing about coatings, etc.
Thanks for your help.

PTFE is a fancy way to say Teflon, and you want blades coated with teflon because they're smoother, also you''ll probably want to stick with Stainless steel blades, carbon steel blades usually don't go over very well

yep Tedpella is the place where most guys buy bulk SE and injector blades

the DE blades are feathers I think, and they're available from other places

I'm up in Northern Illinois

I don't think the medical supply place offers a good deal once you check out their shipping policy and rates.

I get mine here,it's in the UK but their prices including shipping to my home end up being better than anywhere else I've seen, lots of guys on these boards order from them.

I have 200 of each type, both ended up costing me 19 cents a blade including shipping.

Those are Personna injectors. They seem to have a bit of an iffy rep. The Chinese Schick blades (aka Chicks) are very good and available at lots of places, including AMZN.

IRL I'm a chemist with DuPont. I'm pretty sure the corporate lawyers would beg to differ with your assessment. :biggrin1:

Why yes, that's exactly right...They are Made In USA Personna PTFE Stainless Steel Injector Blades. An "iffy rep" means absolutely nothing to me,but if you have actually tried them please let us know your thoughts regarding their performance.I have used them and the Made In China Shicks with equal success.

No, I haven't. And perhaps it's apocryphal, but those injectors (not the blades) generate way more complaints on the boards about loading problems than do the Chinese Schicks. But you're right. Experience is the best teacher. So, I'll pick up a 20 pack and let 'em rip (hopefully not my skin).

Those personna blades from connaught are great its' just the packaging and loader that gets the bad rep,but saying that ive' not had a problem with any of mine.

Save a couple of your old metal injector blade holders and xfer the blades from a wonky plastic one to your metal one should you start to have problems with one.

Most of the time the plastic ones will last long enough to get the 20 blades out but sometimes they don't

It is not too difficult to xfer the blades from one injector holder to another. Just make sure you get them in the right way (sharp edge pointing away from the key)

It's all the same polymer, "Teflon" just happens to be a registered brand name.
e.g. same difference between Owens Corning pink insulation foam, and Dow blue insulation foam. EXACTLY the same, just that Owens Corning has a trademark on making their stuff pink.

I could send you a few to throw into an empty chick blade holder just to see how they shave if you pm me an address although you wouldn't see how the plastic Personna holder performs....I've never experienced any problems loading blades with it but yes,I've heard others have.Hope you have success with them, the more options we have the better.

The injectors from Connaught that I got are in a metal container that works fine at least as good as the vintage schick ones that I now own.
It's just the clipped on used blade storage that's plastic. (which by the way you can't take off without the blades sliding out the back.)
Until recently I didn't realise that some injector blade packs actually have a plastic 'key' which is where I believe the problem arises.

P.S. just checked prices for us here in the UK and amazon schicks have actually dropped quite a bit to the equivalent of $12 for 7 - but Connaught is the same price for 20! so no choice really for us.

That might provide some clarity. The key portion on my Connaught Personna PTFE's is metal,I've never seen any injectors with a plastic key.

I keep adding to my stash of NOS Persona and USA Schicks, which I judge are the best injector blades still available. The P-74s and the Schick Plus Platinum are really excellent and they don't have a Peoples Republic bad karma for me to deal with. Yeah, it's my problem...but I'm done helping the Peoples Republic get rich.
