I was wondering if this pomade could make it on carry-on since it is more or less a solid.

It depends: officially, it' probably designated as a "gel", so the 3 oz. rule is in effect. In reality, it depends on how your screener interprets the rules. If in doubt, just check your bag or leave it at home. Decanting some into a small container would work as well, but I'm guessing it'd be pretty messy for you.

It oddly...doesn't hold my hair in place, having to use quite a bit more than I should.
What kind of hair do you have?

Think thick, right? Now double that. I put in a little? Not enough. Put in some more? Still nothing. Wash just a little out, leave about half of it there for the next day when I add more? Nada.What kind of hair do you have?
Hairs really clean today, going to try it again tomorrow. I have the Prison Edition since I couldn't get the regular for the price i wanted.
Put some in from scratch. Works way better this time around.

try **** grease xx....Stuff Is like the hardest you can possibly find anywhere.
You have to use your thumb to get it out...make sure your hair is a bit damp or else you'll pull out like 17 strands of hair.

Murrays is incomparable to schmiere..completely different ball game(one is a wax, the other is more or less a grease and is comparably softer than the german goop)
Oh and when in doubt...call them and ask.
I remember one time I was visiting europe for a few weeks and the lady was pulling out tin after tin of grease and looking at me funny :/....I'm like "yes miss TSA woman, I'mma waste a perfectly good tin of murrays/dax/brylcreem/sweet georgia brown/black and white/mr ducktail for a silly explosive device.....***?!

Murrays and Dax don't give me as good of a hold really.
Put some fresh in last night (knupplehart) held good. Today not so well. The wind destroyed it.

If you want something that is like knupplehart ,as in...knupplehart on steroids, try some **** grease XX. Your hair will STAY.
or suavecito firme..smells amazing and has great hold, and it is water soluble. Though I like being able to tighten my flat top so I generally stick with grease.

Well she made it through the scanner!
Get to bring it home with me, had some royal crown I sent ahead of me though. Super weak, but good for a part.

While I'm glad that your pomade got through OK, I would NOT recommend making a habit of trying to scam the TSA like that. They have sidearms and can make your day (and the days of those behind you in the line) very difficult.

Well thing is, in the tin it is a solid, so it may as well be a hockey puck. The TSA Guidelines say nothing about it, but some pomades are more like liquids.
Just bought some groom and clean to use before shampooing. Supposed to help break down the schemiere.
I have the prison edition of knupplehart, its good stuff. I have incredibly thick/curly hair and I have had the same issue's with it. However Not enough can be said for a good barber/stylist giving you the proper haircut it can make your life much easier.
But my all time favorite is Dax high & tight: awesome hold, and a good week long build up it keeps everything where it should be with minimal combing through out the day.

Another water-soluble option with VERY strong hold is Imperial Classic Pomade... It's actually too thick/crazy for me to use! (I do love their Fiber Pomade and Gel Pomade, though.) I much prefer the muted "fresh" scent of Imperial to the strong "cologne" scent of Suavecito, of course YMMV. Just wanted to throw it out there in case you guys hadn't heard of/tried it yet.

Does anyone have any idea how to kill the scent of this stuff? It's not bad, but it is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too overpowering.
