Energizer Holdings obtained U.S. antitrust clearance for its $301 million acquisition of American Safety Razor Tuesday, clearing a hurdle for the Town and Country-based consumer products company to broaden its razor portfolio.

The acquisition still faces regulatory approval in Germany and Taiwan. Energizer said it was seeking those approvals ahead of the deal's Nov. 23 deadline.

The time to stock up on your beloved Gem SE blades is now!! No telling how much the product line will change with Energizer in charge.:blink:

I think the SEs are safe as the are used for much more than just shaving. But heres a flip side for ya...

We could be getting US made Schick DEs in a little while... After all, why import from Germany when you can make them here for the N & S American markets?

Something to think on.

Could they make a vibrating DE and sell it as "superior"?

Do you all think that the GEM blades for shaving are gonna go extinct? If not do you think the quality is gonna take a hit? How long do you think it will take for Personna to clear there current inventory, until it's replaced by the Energizer markings?

Thanks

I meant blades because they will have Personnas manufacturing plants here in the US. But yeah, if they think they could sell the plastic razor they have in the UK here why not. As to how long till they runout? They basically bought the space they have in Walmart so they might just reinsert personna branded stuff to gain a larger share against Gillette. After all there are alot of us who prior to and even after switching to DE still bought the Personna branded blades so sales there. It will be interesting to see what occurs.

As one of nature's stockpilers, I already have over 600 SE blades, and around 1100 injector ones. We really don't know what product lines will be discontinued or downgraded, though. If it's profitable for them to keep up with the SEs and injectors, and the twin blade cartridges, then there's nothing to worry about.
