sandalwood question please reply

Unfortunately the only answer is Sandalwood.

Do you have any health food stores or other shops in you local area that sell essential oils? If so, wander in and have a sniff.

It's not really a scent you can descibe too well. I could say "woodsy" but probably doesn't mean much at all.

If you are interested I will send you some Sandalwood SC....

It's probably my favorite scent...

It’s a very pleasant wood oil scent. The real essential oils are powerfull and lingering.

There are ofcourse real essential oils and synthetic scents.

The famous Sandalwood essential oil comes from India but it is very expensive. As a result, many in the cosmetics industry blend oils and synthetics to make a pleasant scent. A similar oil is now coming from Australia it is a similar scent, not Indian but very pleasant.

AOS make a soap and a cream with true Australian essential oils but I think other oils are also added to mellow the sandalwood scent. But it is a pretty good example of true sandalwood.

DR Harris Sandalwood isn't just sandalwood either. I don't think TOBS is from what I recall of a sample I received. Keep that in mind when looking at sandalwood aftershaves and soaps.

what does sandalwood smell like?

+1. That's the only way to answer your question -- for you to sniff the EO. But make sure whatever you're sniffing is actual Santalum Album -- NOT a "sandalwood blend."

How come the hippies get to claim the scent of patchouli? Just because they "TRY" to cover up their smell of poor hygiene, drink and drugs with it? What will the dirty hippies try to claim next... the rainbow?!? LOL

Yes, scents are so hard to describe. Sandalwood is a deep base note with a bright fresh woodsy scent. Fantastic!

If you're trying to find out if you like sandalwood, my recommendation is to pick up a bar of Mysore sandalwood bath soap at an Indian grocery store. It's about $1.80 a bar, and has a strong scent. I love it.
