What's new

Saint Charles Shave

My mom is one tough woman, especially when faced with adversity. She has always been the rock for our family. Her plans for SCS are not going to go away, I will not allow it. She has been teaching me everything she knows for the past two years I have been working with her.

Mom and I had planned on temporarily turning off the site before this happened. Our plans, partially completed, were to streamline our products because it was becoming overwhelming to keep up with. The accessories, womens and too many soap fragrances were getting out of control. Little did we know we'd be temporarily closed for this reason.

I am half-way through my physical therapy from the second shoulder surgery. While mom fights the tough battle ahead of her, I will do my absolute best to keep SCS where she has worked so hard for. I hope to have range of motion and be relatively pain free in a few short weeks.

We will get through this. Thank you for all your prayers for our family at this very difficult time.

Wendy, I have absolute faith that everything will work out. I have the utmost respect for Sue, and have no doubts whatsoever that SCS products will continue to be top performers for years to come. It's been a tough few months for your family, and maybe this is just fate telling you to take a vacation for a while and regroup :biggrin1:. You have my sincerest wishes that things turn around quickly, and you and Mom are at the top of your game soon. I for one look forward to many happy years of stellar shaves with your fine products. Best wishes and positive vibes heading your way!

I guess I anticipated vacation to have a little less pain and tears. We will be fine my mom is one tough woman. It is the doctors that I fear make take the brunt of this. I am not one to back down to anyone and will demand the best treatment for the best. A number of years ago I embarrassed my mom terribly because her doctor talked to her in a tone I thought was off color. Needless to say I have been battling with sick parents since 1986 and I am a little seasoned and rounded now. God help the doctors : )

My husband has us signed up for a group bike ride March 6th. I said he was really having very high hopes for me. I am making that my goal. I will not be on a road bike thought I know that is a little unreasonable considering I have not been released for being immobilized yet. I think maybe I can reach the handlebars on my fitness bike though. I have that appt tomorrow and think my doctor will agree I am ready to keep trucking ahead.

PS arnica cream is great for muscle soreness and pain. There is also an oil one from Weleda but it really smells whereas the cream is neutral. Get the cream instead of gel as it absorbs better. Good luck to the both of you in your recovery.

You'll make it, just believe you can and you will. Your Mom and family are in my daily prayers but I'm sure you hear that from everyone. For what its worth, I had a portion of my lung removed the last week in November '09. I ran 3 miles this morning, (not walked or crawled, did that starting out 2 1/2 weeks ago). I'll be back to my normal 5 by hopefully the middle or end of next month. My point is your family's strengh comes from believing in something bigger than you and yourselfs. If you think you can you will.

You and your mom are part of our community whether making soap or not. My best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery to the both of you.

My best, heartfelt wishes to yourself, your Mom and your family. I love your products, and when you're ready to turn the site back on know that I hope to be the first in line. Take care.

We are awaiting surgery date for my mom. Her port is to be installed and her first chemotherapy date early next week. I will be by her side for this. After I know she is getting through this first phase I will be back up and running. I will be spending most of my waking hours at her side, (with the shop just below me :001_smile) I may be up to speed a little quicker.

Ugh, so I go to the SCS site because I've been hearing such wonderful things about the products for the past year and I see it's down. I'm thinking, can you believe this, the gosh darn place is closed. Now I come on here only to hear the reasons behind the temporary shutdown. Well do I ever feel like a heel. Wendy, you, your family and especially your mom are in my prayers. From what I have read concerning your mom on these boards I picture a strong, wise and incredible woman who is driven by life. As you begin this journey with her I wish you both all the strength in the world. Please keep us updated on the progress you both WILL make in the days ahead.
