Rose aftershave

For some reason my dad wants a rose aftershave. he seems to remember it when he was younger at barbershops. What would you reccomend as a rose aftershave?

Check out Sue's rose AS over at SCS.

I wonder if the one he remembers is by Stephan's? I don't know if it's in production anymore.

This is some good stuff if you want a rose aftershave: http://www.burtsbees.com/natural-products/face-toners/rosewater-glycerin-toner.html

It's technically a toner, but it works great as an aftershave.

Re: Stephan's Rose- that was the most common back then. Depending on how old your pop is, he may be recalling Pinaud Rose Lilac or Masters Rosewater.

My dad was born in 1950. He did mention pinaud but does not think it was a lilac scent. His memory is not all that great.

Well, Pinaud loved the Lilac scents. There was Lilac Vegetal, Roman Lilas, and Rose Lilacs. If he was born around 1940 or before, I would say it's possible that he was exposed to the Pinaud Rose, but it's highly doubtful any barbershops had any on the shelf at the time he was coming about. I'm leaning towards his memory being of the Stephans Rose. It was pretty common up until the seventies.

There's Coral Skin food. I think it's a very nice rose scent, but definitely a rose scent. It's extremely pricy and more of a balm than an aftershave per-se. It's quite old-fashoned (glycerine, gum, menthol, rose water) and has the consistency of corn-husker's lotion.

Hi guys,

I've already used many aftershave but I want some good quality aftershave. I can spend more for it. If any, please give the name of it. I've also the oily skin problem. So, please suggest a good aftershave.

Don't let the price of SCS aftershaves fool you...they are every bit as good as the more expensive, more widely known brands. Sue's EDTs are also a steal, IMHO.

Are you looking for an alcohol-based aftershave? That's what came to my mind when you mentioned oily skin. The DR Harris Pink has little or no alcohol.
