Rooney 1/2

I just placed my order for a Rooney 1/2 in "Super" Silvertip. It's getting delivered tomorrow and I can't wait to use it! I have been looking up on how to break in a brand new brush but can anyone give me some tips on how to go about breaking in this exact one? Or is it the same for all brushes?

I am receiving the brush today so any type of tips or what I should not do would be appreciated. I am refering to how to break in a new brush.

Use it. Mine seems to perform the same today, as day 1.

Some like to give it a shampoo first to get the interesting smell out.

Thanks for all the advice. This is my first "High Quality" brush that I have purchased so I dont want to screw it up the first time using it.

If anyone is wondering I bought it from Vintageblades.com

I got the brush today! I couldn't wait to shave with it and all I can say is WOW :w00t:!!!

Here are some pics of my new 1/2 in Super next to my old 3/1 in Pure

I have a Rooney 1/2 in Silver tip that I got two or so weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE IT! I did not do anything special to break it in - your right about the temporary funky smell. I think it'd some sort of disinfectant and/or mildew inhibitor.

It definitely does give off a little bit of a funky smell but if thats the worst of it then I am completely satisfied in the purchase :001_smile

I don't believe you need to break in badger brush, apart from to get rid of the initial smell.

I think a lot of people mistake "breaking in" with simply getting to know the brush and its soap/cream/water requirements. It's not the brush breaking in, rather, it's you getting to know the brush!

Boar on the other hand is different - the tips will split and soften after the first few uses, but this does not happen with badger.
