LONDON (Reuters) - Protesters dressed as badgers and led by Queen guitarist Brian May marched through central London on Saturday demanding that the government scrap a plan to cull badgers, aimed at slowing the spread of a cattle disease.

I'm torn. More brushes, or preserving animals ;-)

I read somewhere that they can't legally use the pelts, so brushes aren't even relevant here.

And even before that law, English brushmakers imported hair from the Baltics. Gary Young told a story about the bloke who showed up at the Simpson factory with a badger in his trunk. He had hit it with his car, I think. They told him it was no good to them - and then it woke up.

Most badger hair used in brushes is "farm raised" in China.

No badgers in Brittan would be bad but would not effect shavers at all.

It does. My next brush may be a horse brush. However, my current boar will hopefully last a long time!

Well, I guess they can import their meat then and deal with the higher costs in order to save a few non endangered badgers.

Cow diseases have everything to do with the intensity of today's farming, and with the general health and stress levels of our cattle.

I don't think killing badgers, or foxes, or whatever animal that lived in our countries before we started treating livestock as consumption goods, is making our cows healthier.

Reducing intensity, diversifying blood lines, better hygiene, reducing stress, and cutting back on antibiotic will make a lot bigger difference in the end.

My opinion, of course.
