RIP Stan Musial

The Man, indeed! That's going to be a sad bit of news here in St. Louis. Especially so since the Cardinal's Winter Warm Up is going on this weekend, too.

In addition to his athletic achievements he sounded like a true gentleman and an all-around good guy. RIP!

My buddy used to run computer fantasy baseball leagues with the vintage players.
I always chose Stan the Man for my team.

He was a heck of a player.

Even though she was a Brooklyn Dodger fan, my grandmother's favorite player was Stan Musial because he was a great ballplayer and a great gentleman.

Stan Musial was the epitome of both a gentleman and a ballplayer of his day. Men (in general) and baseball (in particular) could stand to be more Musial-like.

RIP (the real) Stan The Man . . .

Met him in St Pete via Bart Giamatti and Fred Kuhlman of the Cardinals. He signed several things and even sent Christmas cards to me for years. A wonderful person and exceptional major leaguer.

Consistent in the game and in life. Such a true gentleman, yet always overlooked in the "best players" conversations and lists it seems. A man can take off a year to serve our country, then come back and win the MVP award. He'll be missed in St. Louis and baseball. RIP Stan.
