First female US Supreme Court justice. Very solid centrist justice. As I recall, often the swing vote in important cases.

We read several of her SCOTUS opinions in law school. A few of my profs were SCOTUS clerks for her as well.

One guy in particular was a horrible teacher LOL.

Anyway, she was an important figure for many reasons, even if I didn't always agree with her legal opinions.

She was a pioneer. I respected her immensely even if I sometimes didn't agree with her decisions.

Her book, Lazy B, Growing up on a Cattle Ranch in the American West, is one of the most interesting and authentic books I've read. And the audio book, narrated by Justice O'Connor herself, is even better.
