Well, today I'm going to review the "The Shave Factory" Shavette that comes "free" with the 100 pack of derby blades.
First, let me apologize beforehand for my english. My native language is spanish, so it's quite possible that you will find several semantic and syntactic mistakes (I google the words I have doubts with... but I'm only human).
Now, on with the show!
The Shaving Factory Shavette - Free with 100 derby blades
The shavette is not free per-se (that is why I wrote it between quotes) True, it comes with the pack of 100 Derby blades BUT, you can find the pack of 100 Derby blades for a couple of dollars less.
> Combo (Amazon.com link)
> Blades Only (Amazon.com link)
Is not that expensive so I still think it's a good bargain
Now, the shavette has a decent construction, it's a bit light for my taste but seems durable enough to last some time and is not expensive enough so that you will regret the buy if it breaks. Construction is pretty good actually, not perfect but pretty good. It feels a somewhat cheap once you grab it, but this is because the whole body is very light weight.
What I liked:
What I didn't like:
The point 2 was fixed thanx to my father's pliers. I pressed together the open side of the tang but only slightly, I kept sliding the holder to see if I was havin positive results and after 2 mins of this, the holder was tight enough.
Yes, you will cut yourself a couple of times when starting but I consider this a decent starting tool. I'm not sure if I will stick to it or if I'm going to buy a Parker shavette (I've heard good things about them in this forum) I'm a bit torn but that's mainly because the weight. If I find a way to add weight to the metal body then I'll let you know, but chances are I will just figure it out how to deal with it.
Overall rating: 6.5 stars.
Recommended: Yes but only if you're on a budget.
Most liked highlight: Easy to replace blades and stainless steel body
Most disliked issue: The weight
Would I buy another like this: No, unless I'm on a budget or they make it heavier.
Last but no less, I leave some photos.
I hope this helps you
Sorry for the HUGE photos.

- The scales are made of plastic and is slightly flexible (I can push the sides inward and they seem to be ok). The fact that they're flexible is good in my opinion because that means the scales will not break easily and will absorb the impact in case you let it drop by mistake.
- The tail is made of the same plastic as the scales. I have no complaints related to this part of the device and a good thing is that (at least in my case) you do not see or feel the snall line of plastic left by the mold when cheap plastic items are made. I'm glad it's made of plastic because it does not add weight in the wrong side of the razor.
- The tang, the spine and the heel are a single hollow piece. Made of stainless steel according to the item description. While it might be made of steel... the piece is very light, I believe this is because it's hollow. The piece is designed this way so that the blade holder can be placed inside it. The mechanism used to place the blade is what a call "Sliding mechanism"
- The blade is, in fact, coposed by 2 parts: The blade holder and the <brand> blade itself. This is made with the same quality stainless steel as the thang. To insert the blade, you slide the holder to the front and you place the blade aligned with two dots, then you pull back the holder and voila! You are ready to shave.
What I liked:
- Made of stainless Steel
- You can fit any DE blade inside (once you split it)
- Fits nicely in my hand
- Easy to replace blades
- It's inexpensive and does the job
What I didn't like:
- A bit too lightweight (if you are not carefull enough, you tend to add pressure and cut yourself)
- The blade holder was a bit loose at first (this has been fixed).
The point 2 was fixed thanx to my father's pliers. I pressed together the open side of the tang but only slightly, I kept sliding the holder to see if I was havin positive results and after 2 mins of this, the holder was tight enough.
