Review of L'artisan Parfumeur's Coeur De Vetiver Sacre)

A great take on a vetiver scent at a more than reasonable price! Enjoy.

Frankly, I don't find this to be a particularly Vetiver themed fragrance that is worthy of many praises. I have reached this conclusion by several wearing's from a decant in cooler, and in hot weather, as make what I thought to be a fair assessment. Upon first spray I detect a rather light fruity accord mixed with hints of Floral notes. Not a bad thing, but I have a bit of a problem detecting any distinct Vetiver, which in a Vetiver themed fragrance, I would appreciate at least a hint of Vetiver to be present from the get go. As this fragrance progresses I can start to detect a hint of a light smoky Vetiver note, and (leather?) blended with spicy notes of Tea, and incense, and hints of Iris, and the sweetness of Vanilla. This fragrance is by no means a fragrance that is not blended in a manner which I would find in keeping true to It's name. By no means a scrubber, but I would expect a bit more from this distinguished house. For my money there are I think better choices in the market place.....IMHO.

Ron, I read a really great review of this frag that said it's a vetiver frag the same way that an avocado is a fruit: technically but not so characteristically.
Also, a lot of conflicting reviews. Some say it's really complex, others say it's simple.
I'm going to have to give it a try...fruity florals followed up by tea and vetiver? Mmmmm mmm

Great point, and also a lesson to be learned here, if you read between the lines. I am of the school of thought that a fragrance, any fragrance should be sampled before one makes a full bottle blind buy. I don't think I can emphasize this point enough. I have tried fragrances in hot weather, and did not really care for it. I then have worn the same fragrance in cooler, and or plain cold weather, and the fragrance took on a whole new character. Good post...

.....And in the video, I go out of my way to say that this is not a pure Vetiver scent and if you're looking for that go elsewhere. This is a really nice scent with Vetiver as a strong component of the overall scent I'd be one of the folks calling this a complex scent.
