Reverted back to my shavette

I took out my shavette tonight for the heck of it! It been many months possibly a year since I shaved with it!
id have to say it was one of y best one pass (I was in a rush) shaves!
i started straight razor shaving on it but moved on well before I perfected it!
i will be taking out again soon!

For me this shows the exact meaning of YMMV. I moved strictly to a traditional straight after months of DE/Shavette use. I decided to dust off the shavette a couple days ago after a couple months of not using it, and got a horrible shave. It looked like I shaved with a steak knife.

I have a Parker with shark blades. I have to say I really enjoyed the heck out of my shave tonight.

It's hard to beat a quick shave in the shower with a shavette for convenience when strapped for time.

I'm really into my Feather again, despite having a small collection of straights. I like how I can just sweep the hair off with virtually no feedback, which none of my hollows or kamisori can do.

That's interesting. Just purchased a medical weck to learn with. Already I'm looking at SR's. Guess I should take my time and enjoy the disposable.

To the OP: your remarks sound good by me. I revert to my Parker w/Lord half blades when I'm on the road and don't want to encumber my hosts with strops and straight razor maintenance in their own home. When I started out, the Parker shavette was difficult; but now, after using straights for around two years, I don't do all that badly with it, and it's a nice check on industrial production vs. the hand-made approach from yours truly. What I like about the Parker with half-blade over some of the longer hair-shaping blades, is that the beefy spine and clamp design of the Parker yields real support, almost like a 1/4 or 1/2 hollow, if that makes sense. Great value, the Parkers. With their half-blades, they are probably as close to DE shaving as I ever choose to return!
