Reverse Osmosis water for building lather?

I have an R/O water filter in my kitchen and I had the idea the other day that it might be good for building lather. I was wondering if anyone else had ever tried such a thing? I see people suggesting buying distilled water if one's water is not ideal for lather production but I was just curious if anyone had ever had ever tried R/O water.

I am going to try it and if I remember I will catalog it just for S's and G's.

I'm curious about this very thing - funny you brought it up now as I was thinking to myself this morning about putting in new filters for my R/O system and giving it a try.

Keep us posted and I'll do the same

Well, hard water has dissolved minerals in it, an RO is just a super fine membrane for filtering. I would guess it would be pretty good water. The water I buy (a steal at a quarter a gallon) is filtered, then charcoal filtered, then RO, finished off with UV. It is excellent lather water.

My water here in this part of the city is not any one extreme. Pretty much runs the middle of the road, I didn't get a chance to shave this morning got up way later than I wanted. Had to go to work unshaved, :thumbdown

I may try here in a bit once I get caught up on school work and e-mails.

I don't think dissolved minerals can make it through the membrane- it is pretty fine. I could be wrong, though

It depends on what membrane is in the filter that you have. They do vary and are usually measured at the micron level.

They do sometimes soften the water by removing the larger molecules in it that would cause it to have a greater hardness but that is not the job it is designed for.
