Retro Shaving Panel at Dragon*Con 2012

If you aren't familiar with Dragon*Con, it's a massive convention held every Labor Day in Atlanta. It's all about gaming, pop culture, science fiction, fantasy. . . All that stuff. Anyway, one of the things they have there is "alternate history", and the alternate history folks are holding a panel called "The Noble Razor: Cold Steel on Hot Lather", which is billed as "A demonstration on the finer art of straight razor shaving, safety razors, shaving brushes, and all the 'smell good' aftershaves."

I don't know if anyone here is involved. (A forum search didn't turn anything up, but of course search results can be a tricky thing to wade through.) Whether or not you're a Dragon*Con attendee, I thought this crowd would find it interesting.

Flash Gordon daily comic strips, Buck Rogers, not as good, but also daily, and Saturday Matinee serials of both of them, then monthly F&SF magazines like Amazing, Astounding, F&SF, Galaxy, If, and so many more. I think I learned to read because of the Sunday comics, in color, but those two SF strips were closely matched by several Adventure Fantasy Aviation strips: Blackhawk, Smilin' Jack, Steve Canyon, Terry & the Pirates, I loved 'em all.

My two current favorite authors are Cherryh and Modesitt, but Weber is a close third.

How did I forget to mention comics? I should add anime and animation, as well as alternate history and Eastern culture. . .

I won't be able to attend the panel, because it's the same time as the church service some friends host at the Days Inn across the street, but let's hope they direct people to Badger and Blade!
