restoring razors

Apologies if I've placed this onto the wrong section.

I have a few old Fatboys that need to be polished and nickel replated. One of them could use a little repair work to smooth the mechanics out. Is there a B&B recommended resource for this service? (I used the search feature and couldn't find this info)

For nickel replate hit up krona Kruiser hey does great work as for smoothing out he mechanics look up fat boy disassembly... It's easy but first boil some water, put that water in a container with some detergent and stick your razor in there for a while refreshing the hot water every so often and gently agitate it... See if that helps before you disassemble the fat boy

Krona does great work. He is very reasonable, has good turn time I hear and is a great guy to work with. I have purchased either 2 or 3 razors from him. They were already replated and he had them for sale. He does have an English NEW that he just got in a week or so ago and is refinishing for me. I did not send that razor to him either. He has some great source for finding these razors.

You will really like his work. I think he does chrome too. If you ever want gold, rhodium, black chrome or rose gold, Dave at Restored Razors (Otonoman is his forum name) does fantastic work. He is in England, so turn time will be longer with mail time, but everything I have seen of Dave's is literally fantastic. The razors look better than new and every finish has been flawless. I have several razors that I have set aside and after the new year I will be sending them to him.

I'm going to try my best to clean these guys up. If I can't get them as purdy as I'd like I'm definitely going to end them to Krona. These suckers need some TLC. They would look amazing replated.

BFish I am fairly confident the fatboy in the forefront of the pic could come out stellar with a good but tedious cleaning and polishing (asm long as door tops look same as rest of razor). I picked up a '60's slim adjstable in almost identical condition (for $9.50 plus shipping incidentally) and it came up absolutely beautiful. In light of the many suggestions here (and i did incorporate some) I used 99% isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush for my initial cleaning and it took the "soap crud" and dirt off like nobodies business. Then I polished with flitz and the result was astounding.

Krona did this Aristocrat replate in nickel.

Wow, that looks like a President. The bright nickel Krona uses has a lot more shine to it than the nickel on Gillette's it seems. I have one super speed from the 60's that is nearly mint and it is pretty, but it does not look like that. Wow again.

the front fb looks as if it just needs a clean up, the back one may need a replate, my way of cleaning up razors like that is put them in a pyrex jug with some baking soda, pour a boiled kettle of water in, let the gunk float off them, then get into them with scrubbing bubbles and a toothbrush, the last part is polish them up with maas or peak polish, see how they are after that, you may get a surprise how good they come up.
