Restoration problem

I've recently purchased an eveready brush for restoration. I've already taken the old knot out with ease (slight twisting) and it came right out. Now the problem lies with the ungodly odor coming from the handle. It's a 100t model that is hollow. What can I do to eliminate the odor? I've already searched but can't find any answers. I may have not looked for the right things. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it is the case but I find that if you can pull the knot out there is still alot of glue and other stuff left in there. Get as much of that stuff out - sand paper, dremel, what ever it takes. You might have already done that though. I think the vinegar would be a good move regardless.

Sometimes if you stick bicarb of soda in the hole and leave it for a few hours and then remove it, it absorbs the smell and takes it away.

Thanks for the tips. I will be working on it tomorrow at some point. Hopefully getting the smell out, and order a knot from TGN. I should be using it in no time at all.
