+1 ... I was going to post this trivia but you beat me to it. IIRC, that character's name was General Steele ... with 3 "E"s.

My earliest recollection of Harry Morgan was an old, old, old TV show called "Pete and Gladys."

Remember the movie "daddy what did you do in the war" where he played a crazy officer who thought he was from the dark ages while they were in Italy during the war. Funny character I have to say.

I'm in a Dragnet Yahoo Group, so naturally I remember him most fondly as Officer Bill Gannon. The first time I saw him was in the long-forgotten sitcom Pete and Gladys. He had an exceptional voice.
