Regrets (all that travelling I did before the B+B)

As I sit here skimming through product reviews and shopping threads, I'm getting more and more depressed about all the travelling we used to do and all the top notch products that I could have been buying the whole time if only I knew about them! Buying online takes all the fun out of the chase, and comparing the prices for imported shaving goods here compared to what they cost in their home countries is just salt in the wounds!

Let me guess your traveling Europe? LOL

Yes Europeans have it good for shaving products... however often times there hard to find. IMO the best spots are the pharmacys/perfume stores/department stores (Karstadt). Often they are overlooked for shaving products... for example Douglas in Germany I'd never go in without finding about it on this site. Because on the outside it looks like all female products.

However stateside is not all bad I hear.... you can get VdH, CO Bigelow, Williams, Crabtree and Evelynn, Truefitt&Hill oftentimes at the big stores but yes your right if your looking for international products your going to be paying a lot! For example a tube of Kappus shaving cream here in germany is around 1€. If you bought the same product online I've seen it for around $8.00 on Bullgooses site.

You can always start reminiscing by going to those places and making up for lost time. Hee hee. What a great excuse to travel!

Living on a small island makes you appreciate online shops that make the world a smaller place. I live in Ireland's 4th largest city, population 77k. There is very little brick and mortar anything for niche markets in a town this small. I often call ebay "The Great Equalizer". Without it I'd have to either do without or pay through the nose. Rather than spend €20 at a local shop (many UK owned sending my money back to england) I'd rather buy it from china for a fraction the price. Brick and mortar is great if you live in a city large enough to support them, but thank god for online shops bringing us products from every corner of the world to our doorstep.

I've been a dealer in collectibles for years. My regret, is all the years of going through antique stores and malls, junk stores, estate and yard sales and all of the shaving goodies that I just looked over. Ouch.
