Regent Tech and case, non-open comb version, year of manufacture?

I finally got one of these very unusually cased Regent Techs. Not a pristine version, but I'm happy nonetheless. Krumholz says an open comb version was made in these cases in 1940. But this must be a later version. Any ideal when it might have been made? The razor is like an early '40's Aristocrat.

TIA!

Looks like this:

The only difference I can see from a '46-'47 Aristocrat is the absence of endcaps.

Chris,
I believe Krumholz was wrong on this particular set. I believe he shows the razor in this set a Senator. I asked this question in a thread a couple months ago. It seems that the five or so sets that B&B members own are the same as yours. I found the same set. The razor seems to be the same as the 1940's Aristocrat without endcaps. Congrats. This is a hard set to find.

Wow Len! Your set is in fine shape! These are hard to find. I have been chasing one of these for some time'

Congrats on the score.

One more thing about the razor. It is different than a '41 Aristocrat in that there is no "PAT NO ON PACKAGE" under the doors on the head. This set is unique in that the text is on the case. On the front of the lower flap, just above the stitch line on the left it says:

U.S.PAT. NOS. ON CARTON

And on the right it says:

MADE IN U.S.A.

This photo is not to illustrate the text, just had to show off "My Precious"...LOL

Thanks Tom! I will check out the razor more closely when I get home. You have a beautiful case, too! Maybe that is why these are so rare in the field, they are snapped up by B&B members!

Congratulations, there is a small but growing club of "correct" Regent Tech owners!

Here's mine..

The writing on the case is almost invisible. I just checked. You can see it in my photo with the open case. And I just checked the razor. There is no print at all under the doors. And Tom your set is spectacular. I remember you showed it in the last thread.

There are many unknowns about this set, starting with the date of manufacture. With no known advertising on which to base a date, consensus places it around 1940. This set would be a transition model between the open comb Aristocrat of the 30s and the solid safety bar Aristocrat made in 1941. Given the apparent low numbers made of this set, some speculation has been raised that the Regent Tech set may have been a salesman's set intended for marketing demos of the new tech design.

You know you spend too much time on B&B when.......

I swear I was on the BST when I clicked on this thread!! I'm thinking "where's the price...I want this!!!!" :001_tt1:

Beautiful!!!

Most interesting! My 46-47 (?) Aristocrat has end caps, but has no marking on top of the head under the doors - just like this one. Perhaps mine was a 41 head put together in 46 with end caps?
