Red Tip? Blue Tip? Black Tip?

One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish....

OK, enough of that nonsense. I've noticed a lot of different colored tips on DE razors, and still being a newb when it comes to DE razors, I've been wondering what the differences are and reasons for the different colored tips. I believe these are made by Gillette, although I'm not sure of the proper names of the razors. Can someone help give me some education on these razors? Thanks! :blushing:

hello, the red tip has a gap that makes a more aggressive shave than a plain end. they are called gillette super speeds. the blue tip is a more mild razor than the red and I think more mild than the plain. The black end is like the plain end, just black. If you were to get a super adjustable, the range would have all three, but the head is a bit heavier an a tad bigger in regards to bulk. I have the red and the plain an the red is nice, but I dont consider it real aggressive, its just right, for me. If you are new to wet shaving, I think that is why they make a blue tip. A gillette tech is very good for you also. I still use one and I have been wet shaving for 40 years.

First, I would recommend a trip through the Wiki, it would explain alot. I believe Black Tip is xtra mild with aluminum handle, Blue Tip is mild with aluminum handle, Silver Tip is standard aggressiveness, and Red Tip is extra aggressive. Aggressivenes is rated by 2-3 different things such as weight, blade gap, etc. Again the best is to sit down and read through the wiki as it has all the info you could ever want!
