Red Pack Personna?

I'm based in the UK and received a pack of Red Personnas in a recent trade with a B&B member in the US. The pack was red cardboard and the blades were individually wrapped in a red paper sleeve.

I'm trying to source Red's here in the UK, but the web sites I've found show a plastic case (like feathers) with a blue cover?

Are these the same blades? or is there a Personna Blue?

Those are referred to as the Israeli Red Pack here. I here they are in a little short supply right now but many US vendors carry them.

Are Red Pack's REALLY getting rare due to production stoppage per the bankruptcy or has demand just exceeded production due to the scare??

I have normally seen red pack personnas in a red cardboard box with five razors per box. However, recently I have seen them in plastic cases with 10 per box (and they have a blue cardboard cover with personna written in red type).

The wrapping of both blades are identical: red wrapping with the letters written at an angle and a drawing of a double edge blade. The blades look and shave the same - so I assume they are the same.

However, I have seen blue pack personnas. They have a different cardboard cover and blade wrapping. The blade wrapping is white with blue circles that say Super Platinum. They do not have the blade drawing featured on them. Also, I've seen them come in a plain white box. If you look at eBay, these are what you see featured - you rarely see red pack personnas on there anymore.

Is the general consensus that these blades in a plastic case of 10 are the same as long as the inside wrappers are the usual red design?

Tony-B, where in the UK do you recommend where I can get Reds?

The blades commonly referred to as Israeli red packs come in two forms. A red 5 pack cardboard dispenser and a 10 pack plastic dispenser with a blue and silver insert like in the pic attached. Both are the same blade but packaged for different markets. Generally the 10 pack european version is very good value and can be bought in a chute of 20 x 10 pack dispensers.

I didn't know this! Interesting.

Thank you, that was always kind of confusing~

Hello guys!

I have been out of the office, so I couldn't post sooner. The pack that shaving.ie has for the 5 pack is actually not the one in USA. But soon it will come in same design but it will packed in 10pcs per pack. So there will be 3 kinds of red personna. If you guys wait, they will come...

Thanks for posting the update on the Personna Red Packs.

I just purchased some IP Reds in the UK, the blue plastic pack of 10. I notice that the address on the blade wrapper is Staunton VA and not Verona VA as on the sample I got from the US in the red cardboard pack. The print on the blade itself is also not as bold as the US sample.

Is this OK?

First shave today with my new plastic 10 pack of IP Reds. EJ DE89L and Proraso in the green tub.

2 passes and a DFS. Touch up and a BBS!

If anything these blades seemed both smoother and sharper than those in the cardboard pack?? I used think the Gillette Swede was the only blade for me, but not so sure now.

I wish they existed in Sweden.

That seems unfair as they are made from Sweedish steel :)

The print on the wrapper is just distribution info but they are the same blade. Glad you like them.
