Red and Black New Deluxe sets

Today I found a 1930 red and black set with a handle that looks like one from a Tuckaway only longer. The sets I have have a few different patent info on the backs of them. Here is the one I found today next to some others I have.

Hey Highball nice snag.. Quick question in the bottom picture the first three razors from the left, what is the proper name for them (I always thought the razor was called a New with common bar)? I have one that I plan on replating. Do you know if the cap/head is made from copper? I suspect mine is. Thanks

I just picked up a red and black-cased NEW like the ones you have on the left in the picture, with the longer handles.

I haven't really cleaned it up yet. I, too, am curious about this razor.

Here I have pointed out the difference in the New Deluxe handle, The far left handle is from a common bar handle New and has a rounded shoulder, the Deluxe has a flat shoulder

The one in the middle is the long handle "Tuckaway" style? Did you determine how rare that is or which set it goes to?

This is the first one that I have seen, I found it in a red and black case. It has the flat shoulder that I pointed out as well

Fascinating variant. My Tuckaway-style Norfolk New Deluxe is currently my fave shaver, so I am always particularly interested in these.

Love to get a longer, heavier handled Belmont style New Deluxe. :thumbup1:

I may of misunderstood your post, but the red and black case razors are different from every one you have. You definitely have a couple mis matched razors with the handles and the heads.

Papi, there are advertisements for red and black sets that clearly show the head inside is a New Deluxe head (the one that is flat across the bottom).
The handle on this odd razor is much too large to be a tuckaway. It would not fit in a tuckaway case. Nor is it a bostonian handle. It could be part of a bostonian handle, assuming that the barrel of a bostonian is a precise fit for tuckaway handle parts. But then that makes one wonder how likely it is that two people both thought to replace a tuckaway barrel with a bostonian barrel and stick it in a red and black set box and then both getting sold to B&B members. Seems a little more likely that Gillette was using up some parts, and sticking them in a red and black box - one that we already know came with at least two different razors.

This is possibly one of my favorite razors, hands down. Very nice, irritation free shave. Everyone has to try a Deluxe at least once.

Im proven wrong again!:blushing: :tongue_sm If I didnt see your razors, I would say that the artist made a mistake drawing that ad.

:001_smile Don't sweat it. I'm proven wrong at least once a day. It appears from some of those other threads that some red and black sets even came with techs inside.
