Recommend good same plane fixed sights for AR15

Personally I would stay away from Polymer, especially for the front sight which will probably be mounted on a gas block or directly to the barrel. IMHO they would be ok for very slow fire, where you do not let the barrel heat up much, but for rapid fire and a very hot barrel I would have doubts. I have built several and most have folding sights, that can be used through an Aimpoint, but they are stored now and I honestly cannot remember the brand, however my favorite is a folding front in the H&K style, my old eyes tend to pick it up quicker than any other kind.

Daniel Defense fixed front or Troy folding front.

LaRue LT103 rear with same plane option if you want fixed. Not sure of any same-plane folding rears but the Troy rear is an industry standard and works well. If you mostly shoot irons and want to splurge, if you can find a KAC 600m folding rear, they're awesome, but they'll cost as much as a full front/rear set or more.

Having spent my entire adult life with the M16/M4/M14/M1 type sights, I don't like the HK front (having also shot quite a few MP5s and G-3s) if I have a choice.

If you need lowlight, get an Aimpoint......tritium on rifles generally doesn't do so well, though tritium front only works better than front/rear.

So your comment about the HK sights are interesting. I was in the Army 10 years and I think the standard AR sights are good; just looks like the HK would be better. I'm afraid the only way to find out what's right for me is to try the HK sight. I could always go back to the standard sight if I don't like it. But your comment is noted.

A couple of replies swept the cobwebs from my mind. The Troy battlesights are the ones I liked best. As far as liking/not liking the HK style front it's all personal preference. Having shot double apeature target sights for a long time, I find the rounded sight protector wings help me pick up the target quicker.

Picked up a trijicon tritium front post for my Colt from Brownells awhile back for $50. You're right, it worked, but not well.

+1 Troy, -1 Tritium (been there, done that, waste of money) ++1000 Aimpoint H1 or T1

So if you want a descent (1 MOA dot) red dot plus BUIS, you need to spend as much or perhaps more than you would for a good scope.

Purchased an EoTech XPS-2 on sale at Bass Pro Memorial day weekend. Slapped it on just last week and put 5 down range at 25 yds 'before' zero, and this is what I had...

Yes, and I went this route. The Aimpoint is not as accurate as a good scope, but then I have the option of flipping up my Troy battlesights and have the luxury and versatility of iron sights, looking through the Aimpoint if I wish. I can also pivot the Aimpoint to the side if I wish.
