Recommend a beard product for me?

My face is round, but I am going for a tall, U shaped beard. I usually use Honest Amish Heavy Duty Beard Balm. This product unfortunately makes my beard go from a U shape to an O shape rather quickly. I never really tried anything else, because there are so many beard products out there.

I recently was gifted some Stubble and Stache lotion. Although it moisturizes differently, it has much better hold, and keeps my beard in a U shape. The S&S balm presumably works even better. But, Stubble and Stache products are expensive.

I recently realized that, with the ludicrous number of products out there, I might as well ask for help. Would someone be able to recommend a balm/wax/lotion that has good moisturizing properties, very good hold, and is not too expensive? My only points of reference are Honest Amish heavy duty beard balm and Stubble and Stache beard lotion.

I'm not sure about a product to help, but when my beard starts to look to round I get the scissors out.

How long of a beard or you going for?

Your local barber may be able to help, or recommend a product.
