Receipt paper

This is a question for you guys that carry a fountain pen all the time for day to day use... I carry my Lamy Safari in my coat most of the time, filled with Noodler's bulletproof black. I have noticed, when trying to sign receipts, etc, that the ink does not take well to that cheap receipt paper. I end up with a thin line, or none at all sometimes.

My question is... is there a better ink I can use for day to day? Should I consider just carrying a rollerball?

Any advice is appreciated.

It's not that the paper is cheap, it is that it is designed to be printed thermally. Thus, it has a waxy component rather than the manuscript surface the FP is designed for.

If it isn't a bother you can always carry a nice rollerball... you could even get the B&B FP and rollerball so you could have a matching set!

Yep. Its so waxy, its like Rhodia on steroids! I keep a rollerball on hand for these instances.

Can anyone recommend a good rollerball? I'm looking at a Safari because they are tough, and I like my Lamy fountain... is there a better option in that general price range? Also, what's a good source for rollerballs? I don't see any at Goulet.

The B&B team is very pleased to announce the Badger and Blade Essential Pen. We are delighted to work with Scott from The Franklin-Christoph Pen Company. The pen will be based off of the Franklin Christoph Model 27 "Collegia" in the Tuxedo pattern. The Tuxedo pattern will have a black body with chrome accents. The pen will be available as a Fountain Pen, a Traditional Rollerball (uses ink refills) or as a Cartridge Roller System allowing you to use Fountain Pen ink to fill the converter for the Rollerball pen. And for those not sure they would like to use a Fountain Pen all of the time, a kit has been added to allow you to change out the fountain pen nib and section to either the traditional Rollerball section or CRS Rollerball section.

The Fountain pen will be available in Steel nibs, widths include extra-fine, fine, medium and broad. In addition, Scott from F-C is allowing us to choose from the wide range of specialty nibs ground by the famed Nibmaster Mike Masuyama at NO additional charge, exclusively for this B&B Essential Pen.

♦ Markings will include the badger logo laser engraved on the top finial, as well as Badger and Blade around the bottom cap ring. The traditional four diamonds F-C markings will be layered on the clip.

♦ Cartridge / Converter (1 of each included) for fountain pens and CRS Rollerballs. Piper 888 refills for traditional rollerballs

♦ Spring Loaded Clips / Chrome Plated Trim

♦ Fountain Pens are available in factory Extra-Fine, Fine, Medium, and Broad. Additionally, custom ground nibs are available in needlepoint, medium italic, broad italic, medium stub, and broad stub. Custom nibs are ground by nib master Michael Masuyama.

I wouldn't carry anything but the Lamy. The store, hotel, merchant etc or should have a instrument fthat will work for you to use.

They must use that same waxy-type paper to make those rolls of paper you find in public restrooms.

On my job we have to write mileage and job information on our gasoline receipts. Sometimes I don't have anything with me that will write on that accursed paper. I just write the info on a Post-It note and attach it to the receipt. Our office understands the frustration.
