I put Dave Gorder (ocrazorman @ westcoastrazors) to the test recently with this terribly abused Gillette President I found hiding in an obscure eBay auction:
The plating was mostly worn down to the brass as you can tell, the doors opened poorly and it was generally as ugly as a mud fence as we say in Texas. Here it is after Dave fixed it and plated it in Rhodium:

Re: the question of whether the doors work well now, yes, they work well... as you can see in one of the pics if you look closely, one of the doors at the end sits just a hair higher than the other, hardly noticeable and doesn't affect anything. And the difference between this President and politicians is that they just play like they've changed... this guy really has!
