I put Dave Gorder (ocrazorman @ westcoastrazors) to the test recently with this terribly abused Gillette President I found hiding in an obscure eBay auction:
The plating was mostly worn down to the brass as you can tell, the doors opened poorly and it was generally as ugly as a mud fence as we say in Texas. Here it is after Dave fixed it and plated it in Rhodium:
